"FIXED: P2290 Injector Control Pressure Too Low — Land Rover Discovery 3 / 2.7 TDV6. Heavy-load boost events kept triggering P2290-00 even after swapping both LPFP and HPFP with aftermarket units. Live data looked fine at idle, but under boost the ECU saw injector control pressure collapsing. The fix turned out to be the fuel temperature sensor built into the injector return line. My cheap replacement started reporting 55 °C on cold mornings (or -41 °C when unplugged), pushing the ECU into the wrong fueling strategy. Unplugging the sensor stabilized rail pressure (peaks dropped from 180,000 kPa to the expected 165,000 kPa and idle pressure settled around 25,000 kPa). Replacing the sensor with a quality part restored normal fueling without limp mode. Key lessons: don’t blame the HPFP first, verify fuel temp data, confirm pressures with live logging, and replace the volume/pressure control valves whenever fitting pumps. Aftermarket pumps can work if they’re built correctly and tested."
